Children’s Religious Exploration
Mission Statement
The UUFC’s Children’s Religious Education Program strives to instill Unitarian Universalist values and principles through stories, discussions, activities and worship experiences in a safe environment. Exploration of other world religions is also encouraged.
Sunday children’s programs, which are offered in a classroom during the service, include stories, crafts and other hands-on projects, and games. We also teach our children how to be part of the service while in the sanctuary. Instruction includes how to read hymns, how to assist in the lighting of the Chalice, and other tasks they enjoy.
Children develop friendships and benefit from interactions with dedicated adult leaders and mentors. The children remain with their parents during the first part of each service. They are excused to participate in Children’s RE, and they return to the sanctuary for the end of the service.
Meet Our Teacher

Hello! My name is Jaryn Wester, and I’m honored to serve as the Children’s Religious Education Instructor. At the heart of my work is a deep respect for the many paths people walk in search of meaning, connection, and truth. I believe that spiritual education should be a journey of exploration—one that welcomes all faiths, traditions, cultures, and worldviews, including those who are still seeking or identify with no specific belief system.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K–6), a Master’s degree in Education, and a Secondary English Credential. I’ve been fortunate to teach across both elementary and secondary settings, and I’m currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Leadership at Arkansas State University, with plans to graduate in December 2026.
In this role, I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing space where young people can ask big questions, explore diverse wisdom traditions, and deepen their understanding of themselves and the world around them. I integrate earth-centered practices, interfaith dialogue, and cultural stories that honor the sacredness in all life and encourage empathy, curiosity, and critical thinking.
It’s a privilege to walk alongside youth and children as they grow—spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually—and to support them in becoming compassionate, grounded, and open-hearted individuals, no matter where their path leads.I believe that spiritual growth happens not just in study, but in relationship with nature, with community, and with the inner self. It is my hope to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where our youth feel empowered to question, reflect, and grow in their understanding of the world they live in.
