Ron Ussery – “Dan McClellan, Biblical Scholar Part 2”

Ron Ussery

Dan McClellan is a Latter-day Saint (LDS) biblical scholar who uses his academic training and social media presence to tackle controversial questions about scripture, emphasizing “data over dogma.”

Ron Ussery will continue to examine, from a Unitarian Universalist perspective, Dan McClellan’s new book, The Bible Says So: What We Get Right (and Wrong) About Scripture’s Most Controversial Issues. The book promises to take on some of the hardest questions people raise about the Bible, using scholarship and clarity to separate tradition from text.

Ron Ussery’s experience includes careers as a journalist, magazine editor, public relations specialist, personnel manager, bank trust officer and, finally, as an educator and multimedia specialist. He’s also a world traveler and a lifelong student, with interests in philosophy, history, comparative religion and other topics. And he’s a founding member of our UU No Wrong Turns Bicycle Club and our Treasurer.

At the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Columbus, GA, we are a liberal religion—not because of politics, but because of openness. Because we draw wisdom from many sources. Because we believe revelation is not sealed. Because we welcome questions, stories, and truths from every path. Join us for Sunday programs at 11:00 AM Eastern, come early to enjoy coffee, cookies and conversation!
