Keith Sims, MercyMed of Columbus

Keith Sims is the lead farmer at MercyMed of Columbus, tending the organization’s innovative urban farm and helps advance its mission to promote health, nutrition, and food security in the community. Born and raised in Columbus, Keith brings together a deep love of the soil and a strong background in public health. Before becoming MercyMed’s farmer, he worked as a medical assistant with the organization, later completing a year‑long apprenticeship at Jenny Jack Farm in Pine Mountain. He holds a degree in biology from LaGrange College and a master’s degree in public health. Keith describes himself as someone who “thoroughly enjoys digging in the soil,” and his work reflects a commitment to healing both people and the land.

MercyMed of Columbus is a nonprofit community health center dedicated to providing compassionate, accessible medical care to all people, regardless of income, insurance status, or background. Founded on a vision of healing that honors the dignity of every person, MercyMed offers primary care, chronic disease management, nutritional support, and wellness programs that strengthen the whole community.

Keith will share his personal perspective and how this program will benefit from our donations on March 15, 2026 when we “Give Away the Plate” to them. All offerings collected on the fifteenth will be donated to this nonprofit organization.

At the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Columbus, GA, we are a liberal religion—not because of politics, but because of openness. Because we draw wisdom from many sources. Because we believe revelation is not sealed. Because we welcome questions, stories, and truths from every path. Join us for Sunday programs at 11:00 AM Eastern, come early to enjoy coffee, cookies and conversation!
