Mary Rogers – Farm Manager, George Washington Carver Victory Farm & Garden
Mary Rogers is the Farm Manager at the George Washington Carver Victory Farm & Garden, where she leads with a passion for growing not just food, but futures. As a central part of Turn Around Columbus, Mary plays a key role in using agriculture as a tool for education, restoration, and community transformation.
Every season, Mary coordinates planting, harvesting, and day-to-day farm care while also mentoring youth, managing volunteers, and ensuring the farm operates safely and efficiently. Under her guidance, the farm has become a hands-on classroom, teaching students about food systems, sustainability, and personal responsibility.
She is known for turning hard work into life lessons, combining agricultural know-how with leadership and love for her community. Whether she’s guiding teens through their first harvest or organizing Earth Day events, Mary makes the farm a place where people come to grow, in every sense of the word.

We Are Here To Help
The mission of Turn Around Columbus (TAC) is to empower youth with hope, opportunities, and the tools to succeed. To achieve this mission, we create community-based education opportunities to empower youth with a positive self-concept, responsibility, experience, confidence, and the skills necessary to make a difference in the workplace and community.
Turn Around Columbus will be this month’s Give Away the Plate (GAtP) recipient. 100% of non-specified donations given on July 20, 2025 will be directed to TAC and the Victory Garden.
UU is different than most religions. For example, we don’t share a creed. Our members and friends come from a variety of religious and philosophical traditions. We include Christians from many denominations. We include Jews, Muslims, and Hindus, and also subscribers to earth-centered traditions. Wiccans and Pagans are welcome here. So are humanists, agnostics, and atheists. What we do share are UU principles and values, all of which are centered on love. And together, we celebrate life. Of course, there’s more. See us on any Sunday for details.
