
Farhad came to the United States from Iran in 1979 to continue his education. He first attended CSU and
then Auburn University where he obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering. He worked for the Columbus Consolidated Government’s engineering department for 30 years and retired as the Assistant Director of Engineering in 2021. Since July of 2022 he has been working as a part-time Project Engineer for the City’s Engineering Department assisting with Site Development Project Permits.
He has been married to Sherry AliFarhani for the past 39 years. Together, Farhad and Sherry have four sons and a daughter and nine grandchildren. They visit Farhad’s sisters and the rest of the family in Iran once every other year. Farhad is a member of Board of Trustees of Masjid AnNur, Islamic Community of Columbus, Georgia. He has been involved with the interfaith community for more than 27 years. He believes in mutual respect among all faiths and seeks unity among all people.
